Finally, a small emergency hand crank climate radio that truly works. I've owned a few hand crank emergency radios and none of them have operated as marketed. In my opinion most of them are junk but when compared this Ambient Weather WR-111 works nice with only some minor grievances that I will checklist below.

The normal premise of an emergency radio is straightforward. When the crap hits the fan you want an emergency radio you can count on to work off the grid. There are two factors that this radio needs so that you just might do to be useful in most emergency state of affairss; (1) It has so to power up after being stored for loads of months without the luxury of being plugged into the electrical grid or an inexhaustible supply of alkaline batteries and (2) it wants in an effort to receive radio transmissions a reasonable distance from the transmitter. Now that sounds easy, but it is been troublesome for anyone to get it right prior to now while keeping the scale, weight and price down. This one could be very as regards to being done right.

My Likes:
(1)The worth is nice and the radio works extremely neatly.
(2)The sound is very clear and crisp.
(3)The digital tuner is superior. I are living 60 miles from the NOAA climate transmitter with a few mountains in between. When I first turned on the weather band in the house I might hear the climate record OK and I thought wow that is lovely just proper. But once I stepped close to the window or went outside with the WR-111 I got good reception. I could not believe it. It really labored. All of my different climate radios didn't obtain the transmission in any respect at this distance, inside of or outdoor.
(4)This is a nice radio for an emergency preparedness equipment however it may also be an extraordinarily nice everyday sunlight powered compact radio.
(5)When you get the radio even with regards to a window the sunlight panel starts to cost the battery which is indicated via the LED. Obviously outdoor within the direct sunlight will present the most effective sun charging setting but that isn't all the time an choice. Just sitting inside of on a widow sill should keep the battery costd.
(6)This software will charge a cellular phone. I examined the mobile phone charging functionality and it worked beautiful neatly.

I LOVE THIS RADIO!!! This is my review of the Ambient Weather ADVENTURER emergency radio. I unnoticed within the video that the battery is removable and replaceable. If you live in an area that has earthquakes, tornadoes, floods or typhoons you want this radio.

Overall this can be a just right product. The radio itself appears sturdy. I'm just a little laborious of listening to and the radio is loud sufficient for me. The radio stations and weather station each got here in very obviously. The cell phone charger worked, as smartly. But the function I was once most occupied with was once the "weather alert" mode, and that's where slightly of disappointment settled in.

When I first opened the field I removed the tab from the battery compartment and absolutely costd the radio with the USB adapter per the handbook recommendations. I listened to the radio for half-hour and then set it on "weather alert" mode. I positioned the radio in a sunny window so it may continue to cost in the direction of the solar panel. The subsequent morning once I awoke I noticed the radio used to be no longer in climate alert mode and handiest the time was once displayed on the radio. I turned the radio on and received about three mins of play ahead of it shut off and flashed a battery warning.

I used to be perplexed as to why the radio most effective gave me 30 minutes of play ahead of quitting on me after a full cost. I suspected either I had a inaccurate product or the "weather alert" mode was a power drain to the product.

I e-mailed Ambient Weather and got a very quick response from Ed, who confirmed my suspicion that the "weather alert" mode drains the battery. He recommended that I buy a USB to AC adapter for when the radio is in "weather alert" mode. He also mentioned that the sunlight charge feature was oncen't sufficient to keep up with the "weather alert" mode. He did say that they wanted to include that knowledge within the handbook someday.
